On Blogging, Facebook, And Being “Liked”

Another month has come and gone!  I’m feeling a little pressure to get my posts…well…posted!  But more travel came my way with the unexpected death of a midwife friend and the potential move of my daughter to our area.  A pastor once said, “Good and evil travel on parallel tracks and arrive about the same time.”  So very true.  And it’s what we do with these life events that matters most to God.  Life just happens.  And we need to be ready to adjust to the needs of others as we traverse this life.

Yet, I am determined to write, to share my thoughts, adventures, and growth as the good Lord has given them to me.  My motive, of course, is to offer ideas and encouragement, with a dose of reality thrown in.  But whether anyone actually reads this blog cannot be pivotal to my writing.  I must choose to make it less than important.  God will determine just who sees and needs what I write.  And that someone just might be me!

We feel value when that silly “like” button is clicked for our picture or post.  (Go ahead, admit it!)  But it’s hard to stay motivated when Facebook limits the people reached on my “like” list!  I mean, my friends actually chose to push that “like” button, only to have someone else decide which “likes” are good enough to post on that person’s feed.  Okay, I’ll get off my soapbox.  Stepping down….  (Tip: If you want to be sure to see my blog posts, subscribe and you’ll always get them in your inbox.   On Facebook:  comment, click “like,” or better yet, “share” them with someone you love.  That way it may bump up my posts in your feed.)

If you’re with me on this “like” thing, you’ll enjoy this video my daughter found!  Such truth.

Oh, it’s often a wonderment as to the value of putting my thoughts on paper, and yet there is value in it.  There is worth whenever we ponder and consider life and the lessons we are learning in and through it.  And along the way, if I can reach another soul who is searching along a similar path, then I am blessed to share and prayerfully help sort through the stuff of life.

May you be blessed today as you seek God’s face through the good days and through the trials.

He is very near!
